Son of man, take up a lament
concerning the king of Tyre
and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign says
you were in the garden of God
blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness found you
Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence
Through your widespread trade
you have sinned
I drive you in disgrace from the mount of God
I expel you, guardian cherub
from among the fiery stones
because of your splendor
By your many sins
and dishonest trade
you desecrate your sanctuaries.
So a fire consumes you
you were in the garden of God
blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness found you
till wickedness found you
so I reduce to ashes
at the sight of the unholy pyre
all the nations who knew you
are appalled at you...
